Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Employee Relations Business Partner to join our dynamic team. As a strategic leader, you will play a key role in your region’s divisions, which include UAP’s head office, 5 distribution centers, 3 regional headquarters, and more than 100 stores in Quebec and the Maritimes, bringing together approximately 2,400 employees. This essential role aims to support the company’s strategic objectives, promote agile and efficient talent management, and ensure a rewarding employee experience.
We are looking for someone who, through their work experience, has developed a sense of listening, dialogue, mediation and negotiation and experience in conflict management and team management.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Employee Relations
- Manage and resolve complex employee relations situations.
- Identify and resolve potential or existing conflicts.
- Coach managers on all aspects of employee relations.
- Lead a team of 3 advisors.
- Conduct or supervise investigations and manage complaints.
- Ensure the execution of annual HR programs within the required timeframes.
- Support employee development initiatives and manage succession in the region.
- Participate in recruitment for certain key positions.
- Propose proactive approaches to resolve management issues.
2. Labour Relations
- Advise managers on the interpretation and application of collective agreements and labour laws.
- Manage relations with the union in three unionized distribution centres and one store.
- Oversee the management of grievances and resolve issues related to labour relations.
- Act as co-spokesperson during collective negotiations.
- Develop and maintain constructive relationships with union representatives to foster a positive work environment.
- Anticipate and identify potential trends and issues in labor relations to propose preventive strategies.
Requirements
Requirements for this position:
- Excellent communication skills in French and English, both orally and in writing. As part of your duties, you will have to collaborate fluently with internal clients across Canada.
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources with a minimum of 7 years of experience in a similar role.
- Availability to travel within Quebec and to the Maritimes
- Strong ability to influence, strategic approach, noted problem-solving skills, in-depth knowledge of change management, excellent judgment, strong negotiation and mediation skills.
